we give you a whistle. Why a whistle, well the United

States Coast Guard, and the State of Texas requires a

signaling device on all human powered watercraft,

Any vessel less than 12 meters in length (39.4 ft.) is required to carry a whistle or horn, or some other means to make an efficient sound to signal intentions and position in periods of reduced visibility.

and currently it can be an expensive lesson to be learned at

the hands of a marine safety officer in the form of a ticket,

so that’s why!

And yes we talked about hulls, and paddle and pfd’s too,

along with how to transport and store you kayak, but

mostly we talk about what fun it is to be the Capitan of

your our craft and enjoy paddling for paddling.

or the REI Paddle Fest and the Wind Festival

at Trammell Crow Park off the Trinity near Downtown

where we’ll also be demoing yaks from 12-4 on Saturday
