Where to eat at Lake Murry??

May 18, 2011 by mike swope

That’s the easy question of the day……….

MurrayLake2011

See the sailboat, in that corner is the best little place on the

whole lake to grab a burger, it’s called MOM and POPS.

They are at the intersection of 77s and Enville-Ran road

give them a call at 580 276 4900 and get your order to go,

and don’t forget the homemade pie either, it’s so good, we

call ahead to make sure they have enough for us!!!

IMAG0055

Tell Wayne or Audra we said to call or stop in, and just in

case you need a place to stay they have very nice

accommodations in trailers and they are busy working on

the cabins too, so if you find yourself at Lake Murry and

need a clean and comfy place to stay, along with great

food….

Well now you know!!

By the way the hamburger with Brisket is…….

 O U T S T A N D I N G!

Free Safety Equipment

May 12, 2011 by mike swope

Given out at the Free REI Clinic, yes KayakPower, is thinking of you, when we do the clinics at REI

IMAG0037

Nettie give the 411 on PFD’s, PDQ to the VIP’s

we give you a whistle. Why a whistle, well the United

States Coast Guard, and the State of Texas requires a

signaling device on all human powered watercraft,

Sound Producing Devices
  • Any vessel less than 12 meters in length (39.4 ft.) is required to carry a whistle or horn, or some other means to make an efficient sound to signal intentions and position in periods of reduced visibility.

and currently it can be an expensive lesson to be learned at

the hands of a marine safety officer in the form of a ticket,

so that’s why!

And yes we talked about hulls, and paddle and pfd’s too,

along with how to transport and store you kayak, but

mostly we talk about what fun it is to be the Capitan of

your our craft and enjoy paddling for paddling.

Of course we might also mention, the new

Beaver Pond Paddling Trail at LLELA open this weekend

IMAG0027

or the REI Paddle Fest and the Wind Festival

at Trammell Crow Park off the Trinity near Downtown

where we’ll also be demoing yaks from 12-4 on Saturday

IMAG0040

Don’t wait till Monday and say, gosh, I could have paddled

Stop Dreaming, and Start Paddling with us this weekend!

Wednesday Weekend Update

May 11, 2011 by mike swope

Wow what a great Tuesday we had being a small part of the Texas Paddle Trails opening at LLELA!

IMAG0022Cool sign, and below you can see

Richard Ray with Fox4 doing the standup with Dr. Steigman

before we hit the trail in the kayaks….

IMAG0025

And We’d also like to THANK… everyone at LLELA

and REI, and the USACE, for their vision and hard work!

IMAG0027

To bad we got bumped from the news cast for really

important stuff like the Presidential visit, but I was told that

this trail would be featured soon on the Lone Star

Adventures on Fox 4 with Richard Ray!!

IMAG0026IMAG0024

Did I mention the alligator??  We finally got it on film, and a

Big Thanks too to David who risked his very expensive

professional video camera to join yours truly in a kayak so

we could film from the trail!

Hopefully David with send the gator footage to post online!

Hope to see you on the trail!

Tuesday is almost here…
