Weekend Fun with KPC…

September 17, 2010 by mike swope

We have two events this weekend…

We have a Eco Tour on the Elm Fork that’s iffy as of today

and the army corps and their enormous water release…

We’ll make the call on.. go/no go… at 1pm today!

USGS 09162010

We had also scheduled a clean up along the river and that’s

100% off as the trash is now about 4 feet below the

surface of the river…Go figure!

Were also at BPS in Garland on Saturday from 10am-2pm

with a live water demo on the challenge course along with

several others including the Garland Park and Rec so

please join us and them this Saturday on Lake Ray

Hubbard, for this FREE event!

and if you can..remember what we like to say most…

Stop dreaming and START PADDLING!

Dallas Running ( & Kayaking) Club Picnic at WRL

September 17, 2010 by mike swope

Wow, who knew the DRC was so full of great folks?

Ahem…We DID!! and we paddled with them…again !

And yes it was warm…ish, but the tunes were great..

The beer was ICE COLD and the folks for great too!

We paddled Young, and ….

young at heart…

P9110243 and just in case your not sure……

that’s correct,

it is less filling…

so you can paddle more….

Heck we may even let you

get in a kayak …next time…

And speaking of KPC paddling fun, after the sun got low the

air temp cooled down and …did I mention… WOW?

Thanks Peggy!  Looking forward to seeing you next year!

Storm Aftermath…

September 16, 2010 by mike swope

P9110138 So a little hurricane can do a lot of

damage both with the wind and with the rain, so in our

It was the rain, that caused the flooding that cause all the

trash…..P9110139to pile up on the western shore of the lake or on the

KayakPower section of the cleanup.  Yes that’s West

Lawther looking south along the shoreline.

we had lots of help both on the ground….

P9110142   And on the water too but the

amount of trash up stream and the amount of trash along

the shoreline was to much for a two hour cleanup, to make

big difference.

But still we cleaned…

From the water……

P9110175 From the shore…

and together……

We got the trash…..

A big THANK YOU to everyone who thought it was

necessary to pick up after mother nature and more!

P9110149 And please join us in

October, on the 9th   at 9am at Jackson Point for more fun!

Second Saturday Hurricane Cleanup?

September 8, 2010 by mike swope

Well…with all this rain and flooding, there’s sure to be ample trash for us to clean.  In fact my rain gauge was at 2.5 inches early this am and with over 1000 surface acres of drainage, White Rock Creek is out of it’s banks for sure!

And remember, at       KAYAKPOWER….

we clean rain or shine, sleet or snow, hurricane or flood.
